We’re speaking at WTC Montreal
May 17–21
The RES meeting is key to daily production. Without alignment on required support, work stops and delivery teams wait. These meetings need to move quickly from "what happened underground?" to "what decision are we making?" Each party needs to trust each other, and the data, to make these collaborative and impactful engineering and contractual decisions.
Most RES meetings begin by reviewing imperfect and stitched together photos of recent excavations, and discussing what should be interpreted of the ground from what can be seen. Decisions still happen, but they happen without the clarity that they deserve.
Three stages. Two products. One connected workflow from face to decision.
Underground conditions mapped on Lithos, with classifications, and datasets already organized.

Current and historical datasets with annotation layers in one 3D view. No file-hunting, no scale ambiguity.
Align engineering and production teams’ interpretations of reality and to improve the quality of decisions made.

The RES meeting is where Strata is used as a visual annotated 3D model. When the model is viewed, the whole team can be brought underground to look at the same evidence and make an aligned decision.
Lithos captures the conditions underground; Strata helps run the meeting.
RES meetings that end with aligned outcomes on ground support requirements. Faster support-system decisions. A meeting record that captures not just the decision but the dataset it was made on. Participants leave the room aligned and ready for production.

Data captured in Lithos flows directly into the Grounded platform, where teams can review conditions, generate reports, and align on decisions.
This workflow is focused on how Strata can improve running a RES meeting, whereas the Validate Required Excavation Support → frames the outcome as decision-quality ("the support call is right"). Both are important.
RES meetings are most commonly held within the tunnelling industry, but the equivalent decision happens in underground mining between the ops teams and technical services.
See how structural mapping connects to the broader GroundedAI platform.
We'll walk through an RES review in Strata end to end.
